Toyota is known for its reliable vehicles, but that's not all the auto brand has to offer to buyers. Some of its higher-end models boast luxury features, impressive engine options, and powerful driving performance. One option that's worth considering is the upscale Avalon.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2022 Toyota Avalon is a full-size SUV that comes in three luxurious trim levels. They are XLE, Touring, and Limited. From the outside, the vehicle showcases rounded curves all the way around its body, aggressive lighting, and an expansive grille flanked by aerodynamic venting. Additional exterior features on the base XLE trim include LED headlights, LED daytime running lights and taillights, chrome accents, 17-inch alloy wheels, heated side mirrors with integrated turn signal indicators, and dual exhaust with chrome tips.
The Touring trim has a few sporty accents, including a moon roof, 19-inch black-painted alloy wheels, a sport- sound-tuned exhaust, and quad chrome exhaust tips. With the top Limited trim, you get a unique set of 18-inch super-chrome wheels.
Engine (Power)
Every 2022 Avalon comes with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine that pumps out 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. It's paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the front wheels. If you want to conserve fuel or reduce your environmental impact, you may want to consider the Avalon Hybrid. It shares many of the features with the gas-powered models, although it's offered in its own set of trim levels.
Performance
With its powerful V-6 engine beneath the hood, the Avalon is great for everyday driving and on long stretches. You can quickly and easily get up to freeway speeds with responsive acceleration, and the driving performance gives off an athletic feel in its handling and capability. The brake pedal is responsive and consistent, while the transmission shifts smoothly for a more comfortable ride.
Interior
Climb into the roomy cabin of the 2022 Avalon to find a long list of premium features. With seating for up to five and plenty of space for passengers of all sizes, this is one of the most comfortable sedans available on the market. The base XLE trim boasts simulated leather upholstery, power-adjustable and heated front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. Additionally, this model includes an eight-speaker sound system, satellite radio, a 9-inch touch screen, four USB ports, and Android Auto/Apple CarPlay smartphone integration as standard.
If you step up to the Touring trim, your car's cabin will include ventilated front seats, a power-adjustable and heated steering wheel with memory settings, aluminum trim, and heated rear seats. It also comes with navigation, an upgraded 14-speaker JBL audio system, and wireless device charging. The top Limited trim has wood interior trim and an upgraded steering wheel.
Safety Features
No matter which Avalon trim level you choose, your vehicle will come with anti-lock brakes, a rearview camera, air bags throughout both rows of seating, stability and traction control, and a tire pressure monitoring system. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5+ also comes standard across the board, which bundles several advanced driver aids. The package includes adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert, automatic high beams, a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection, and road sign assist. Rear automatic braking is offered as an optional upgrade.
