2022 Toyota Highlander
The Toyota Highlander is a comfortable and stylish three-row SUV that provides many standard features, a comfortable cabin, and a powerful and efficient V-6 engine. New for the 2022 model year is a new Bronze Edition trim. Also, the XLE trim and up receive a height-adjustable power-seat feature.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
With the Highlander, you can choose from attractive paint options such as Ruby Flare Pearl, Blueprint, Opulent Amber, and Moon Dust. The SUV is available in six trim levels: the L, LE, XLE, XSE, Limited, and Platinum. In addition, the Highlander is also one of only a few three-row SUVs that offer a hybrid version on selected trims. The 2022 model year introduces a new Bronze Edition trim, which comes with bronze-colored accents and 18-inch bronze-colored wheels.
The base trim is well-appointed with standard features such as LED projector headlights, LED taillights, and LED daytime running lights. You also receive power-adjustable and heated side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, and color-keyed side rocker panels. Apart from LED fog lights, the LE trim adds a height-adjustable power liftgate and blind-spot indicators. With the XLE trim, you receive added roof rails and a power tilt/slide moonroof. The sporty XSE trim offers a sport suspension, 20-inch machined-face alloy wheels, and a twin-tip exhaust.

Engine (Power)
Two powertrains are offered with the Highlander. The standard 3.5-liter V-6 engine pairs with an eight-speed automatic transmission and produces 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. When equipped with this engine, the Highlander can tow up to 5,000 pounds. The hybrid powertrain consists of a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motors, which generate a combined output of 243 horsepower. An electronically controlled continuously variable transmission (ECVT) sends power to the front wheels. Both engines are available with an all-wheel-drive system.
Performance
With the Highlander, you receive decent acceleration, composed handling, and a smooth ride. For even sharper handling, opt for the XSE trim, which is equipped with a sport-tuned suspension system. The available all-wheel-drive system provides improved responsiveness and stability. You also receive a standard multi-terrain select system, which senses slippage and regulates wheel spin. The system offers four modes: Mud & Sand, Rock & Dirt, Snow, and Normal.
Interior
The cabin of the Highlander provides comfortable seats for up to eight passengers with the standard second-row-bench configuration. If you opt for a model with second-row captain's chairs, your Highlander will accommodate seven. You also receive a respectably sized cargo area of 16 cubic feet. The standard 8-inch infotainment system offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, six speakers, and a Wi-Fi hot spot.
Other standard features include a power-adjustable driver's seat, tri-zone automatic climate control, and cloth upholstery. With the higher trims, you receive premium features such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror, second-row sunshades, heated and ventilated front seats, heated second-row seats, leather upholstery, and a head-up display.

Safety Features
All trims come standard with the Toyota Safety Sense suite, which features forward-collision warning, adaptive cruise control, lane-tracing assist, lane-departure warning, a rearview camera, and a traffic sign reader.
