2022 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
The Toyota Highlander is one of only a few three-row SUVs that feature a hybrid model. Apart from excellent fuel efficiency, the Highlander Hybrid provides an overall comfortable and safe ride. You also receive attractive styling, impressive standard equipment, and an upscale cabin. For the 2022 model year, a new Bronze Edition trim joins the lineup.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The Highlander Hybrid is available in attractive exterior paint colors such as Ruby Flare Pearl, Wind Chill Pearl, Blueprint, and Celestial Silver Metallic. Five trim levels are offered: the LE, XLE, Bronze Edition, LImited and Platinum. The base trim is well-equipped with standard features such as heated and power-adjustable side mirrors with turn-signal indicators, LED projector headlights with daytime running lights, LED fog lights, and LED taillights. You also receive 18-inch alloy wheels, a height-adjustable hands-free power liftgate, and front and rear mudguards.
The XLE trim adds a power tilt/slide moonroof and silver-painted roof rails, while the new Bronze Edition offers 18-inch bronze-finished wheels, bronze door sills, and puddle lamps. With the Limited trim, you receive side mirrors with memory and a reverse tilt-down function, high-output LED fog lights, 20-inch chrome wheels, and acoustic noise-reducing front side windows. The range-topping Platinum trim comes with an adaptive front lighting system, rain-sensing wipers, a panoramic glass roof, and a rear bumper scuff plate.

Engine (Power)
The vehicle's hybrid powertrain consists of a responsive 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that pairs with electric motors and a continuously variable transmission. A combined output of 243 horsepower is provided, and you can choose between a front-wheel-drive and an all-wheel-drive system.
Performance
The Highlander Hybrid offers multiple selectable driving modes so that you can customize your driving experience. The modes are Normal, Eco, Sport, EV, and Trail. For a more confident on-road performance and all-weather capability, opt for the available all-wheel-drive system. This system comes with an added electric motor that provides improved traction by automatically supplying power to the rear wheels.
Interior
Depending on the trim you opt for, the Highlander Hybrid is either fitted with a second-row bench seat or second-row captain's chairs. The rear cargo area provides 16 cubic feet of space, which you can extend to 84.3 cubic feet when you fold both rear rows down. With the standard 8-inch infotainment system you receive six speakers, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and SiriusXM.
Other standard features include three-zone automatic climate control, fabric upholstery, and a power-adjustable driver's seat. Several luxury features are added with the higher trims, such as wireless smartphone charging, an auto-dimming rearview mirror, leather upholstery, second-row sunshades, and heated and ventilated front seats. You can also opt for a Driver Easy Speak system, which utilizes a microphone in the overhead console to broadcast the driver's voice through the rear speakers.

Safety Features
With the Highlander Hybrid, the Toyota Safety Sense suite is offered as standard equipment. The suite consists of advanced driver-assist systems such as pre-collision alert with pedestrian detection, dynamic radar cruise control, lane-departure alert, lane-tracing assist, and road sign assist.
