The RAV4 Hybrid takes everything drivers love about the compact RAV4 and gives it a fuel-efficient hybrid powertrain. For the 2022 model year, a new SE trim joins the lineup, sitting between the XLE and the XSE. Also, for 2022, all the trims except the LE receive new headlights with a more aggressive design, and the higher-end trims offer a new wheel design. Trim Levels (Exterior)

The entry-level LE Hybrid comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, active grille shutters, LED headlights, LED daytime running lights, and LED taillights. Step up to the XLE Hybrid for automatic headlights, heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, fog lights, integrated turn signals, and keyless entry. The XLE Premium adds 18-inch alloy wheels and a power tilt-and-slide moonroof, while the new SE offers a sunroof and power liftgate as an option. The XSE Hybrid has sport exterior styling elements, two-tone exterior paint, and heated, power-folding side mirrors. At the top of the lineup, the Limited Hybrid has puddle lights, chrome exterior trim, and a power liftgate.

Engine (Power)

The RAV4 Hybrid gets power from a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and two electric motors. These combine to generate 219 horsepower. A lithium-ion battery charges the motors, and it has an automatic transmission that powers all four wheels.

Performance

This RAV4 is quick with responsive acceleration that gets you up to 60 mph in just 7.4 seconds, which is significantly quicker than the gas-powered RAV4. The sport-tuned suspension that comes with the XSE is firmer than the regular suspension and gives the RAV4 a sportier feel behind the wheel.

Interior

This hybrid RAV4 might fit into the compact crossover market, but it has a spacious cabin with plenty of room for all five of its passengers. It comes standard with cloth upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a height-adjustable cargo area. Moving up through the trims adds convenience and comfort features, such as a power-adjustable driver's seat, heated steering wheel, imitation leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel.

There are plenty of tech features in the RAV5 Hybrid. It comes standard with a 7-inch touch screen, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and voice recognition, along with satellite radio. An 8-inch touch screen comes in the XSE, and this trim also upgrades to a wireless version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Step up again to the Limited for an 11-speaker JBL stereo system.

Safety Features

Every 2022 RAV4 Hybrid comes with the Safety Sense 2.0 group of driver aids. This package includes a forward-collision warning system, lane-tracing assist, a lane-departure warning feature, automatic high beam headlights, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection. The XLE adds to all these features with a blind-spot monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and the XLE Premium adds a digital rearview mirror. Depending on the RAV4 trim, you can also get a 360-degree surround-view camera system, front and rear parking sensors, and adaptive pivoting headlights.
