Trim Levels (Exterior)
You'll get to select between five trim levels when you choose the 2022 Toyota Tacoma. Make your way up through the SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro trims to find the best midsize truck for you. These trucks have either an access cab with a 6-foot bed or a double cab with a 5-foot bed. The Tacoma comes standard with an in-bed deck rail system and projector-beam headlights. The SR5 adds fog lights for enhanced visibility. The TRD Sport ups the Tacoma's tough style with a hood scoop and a unique black mesh grille.
Engine (Power)
The 2022 Tacoma starts its lineup with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. If you're looking for more power, upgrade to the available 3.5-liter V-6 engine, which outputs 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The engines are mated to either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Performance
If you want to enhance your off-road performance, choose the aptly named TRD Off-Road to get features such as the locking rear differential and multi-terrain select. The terrain selector offers multiple drive modes to let you fine-tune your truck. The TRD Off-Road also gives you the Crawl Control feature to let you maneuver confidently over rough terrain. The TRD Pro offers even more adventuring gear, such as TRD-tuned FOX shocks, skid plates, and more. The Tacoma can tow up to 6,800 pounds when equipped with the V-6 engine. Get the Tow Package for a hitch and the Trailer-Sway Control system.
Interior
Choose the double cab for more comfortable seating for up to five passengers. Leather-trimmed seating comes with the Limited and TRD Pro. Stay cozy with the Tacoma's front dual-zone automatic climate control when you choose the V-6 engine. The SR5 adds a power-adjustable driver's seat that lets you customize your cockpit. Select the Limited for a full tech loadout that includes the premium JBL audio system and integrated navigation program. Each Tacoma features a smart multimedia touch screen that you can use to access Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, Amazon Alexa, SiriusXM, and many of your truck's settings.
Safety Features
Use the 2022 Toyota Tacoma's available panoramic view monitor to get a 360-degree look at the world outside of your truck. We suggest opting for the available blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, which makes you aware of any approaching vehicles while you're reversing. Each new Tacoma comes standard with Toyota Safety Sense P technologies, such as the pre-collision system with pedestrian detection. This intelligent system looks for people and vehicles ahead to warn you before applying the truck's brakes if you don't react soon enough. You'll also get a lane departure alert and automatic high beams.
