For 2023, the Toyota 4Runner is available in eight trim levels. These trims are SR5, TRD Sport, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, 40th Anniversary Special Edition, Limited, and TRD Pro. The base SR5 trim level starts things off with LED headlights and roof rails. You can upgrade to the TRD Sport trim level to get 20-inch split six-spoke alloy wheels and an X-REAS sport enhancement suspension. The SR5 Premium features heated power outside mirrors with turn signal indicators, while the TRD Off-Road trim comes with 17-inch seven-spoke alloy wheels.
The exclusive 40th Anniversary Special Edition trim level comes with a special paint job, plus 17-inch bronze alloy wheels. Consider picking the Limited trim level if you want 20-inch split six-spoke alloy wheels or the TRD Pro if you're seeking a TRD stamped aluminum front skid plate and 17-inch matte-black flow-form TRD alloy wheels.
The 2023 4Runner is available in a wide range of eye-catching colors. Engine (Power)
All trim levels of the 2023 Toyota 4Runner are powered by a 4.0-liter V-6 engine. This engine links to a five-speed automatic transmission and generates 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque.
Performance
Rear-wheel drive is the standard setup of the Toyota 4Runner. However, a part-time four-wheel drive system is an optional upgrade. A full-time four-wheel-drive setup is also available with the SR5 and TRD Off-Road trim levels.
Interior
An 8-inch touchscreen comes standard with the 2023 4Runner. This touchscreen works with Bluetooth, Amazon Alexa, satellite radio, an eight-speaker stereo system, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Proximity keyless entry is also standard. If you desire additional infotainment tech, you can upgrade the 4Runner with a universal garage door opener, built-in navigation, a 15-speaker JBL stereo system, and HD Radio.
The 4Runner is a two-row SUV, but it is available with a two-seat third row. Adding the third row increases passenger capacity to seven. Riders in the front row get 41.7 inches of legroom, while second-row passengers get 32.9 inches and third-row riders get 29.3 inches of legroom.
Safety Features
Safety is key, which is why the Toyota 4Runner comes standard with several driver-assist safety technologies. Forward-collision warning, forward automatic emergency braking, and pedestrian detection work together to reduce the risk of a head-on collision, while lane-departure warning keeps drivers on their path.
