Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Toyota Camry comes in six main trim levels, which are LE, SE, SE Nightshade, XSE, XLE, and TRD. With the base model, standard exterior features include 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and power-adjustable side mirrors. Choose the SE and your Camry will come with a few sporty enhancements like 18-inch wheels and unique exterior trim. The SE Nightshade is a bit sleeker on the outside, showcasing a trunk-mounted spoiler, black exterior trim, and 19-inch bronze-painted wheels.
If you want a more luxurious model, opt for the XLE. It comes with keyless entry and ignition, along with a few styling enhancements. The XSE is even sportier with its glossy-black grille, dual exhaust, and 19-inch wheels. At the top of the list, the bold TRD features aerodynamic body trim, its own set of 19-inch wheels, black-painted trim and side mirrors, a sport exhaust, and a unique sport-tuned suspension.
Engine (Power)
The standard engine found beneath the hood of this midsize sedan is a four-cylinder unit that makes 203 horsepower. It works with an eight-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. The engine is specially tuned in the XSE to put out 206 horsepower. If you want a little more power, the TRD comes standard with a V-6 engine that pumps out 301 horsepower and 267 pound-feet of torque. Toyota also offers this engine as an option under the subtrims called XLE V6 and XSE V6.
Performance
The Camry may not be the speediest car on the market, but it offers plenty of appealing performance elements to round it out. Its eight-speed automatic transmission is highly responsive, shifting quickly based on driver input. The SE, XSE, and TRD are specially tuned with sportier suspensions, providing a firmer feel when you're behind the wheel. With a responsive brake pedal and balanced steering, this sedan performs well in a variety of situations.
Interior
Climb into the roomy cabin of the base trim to find cloth upholstery, a power-adjustable driver's seat, dual-zone automatic climate control, and plenty of space in both rows of seating for people of all sizes and shapes. Standard tech features include a 7-inch touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. The SE adds simulated leather upholstery and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with paddle shifters.
Opt for the XLE to get premium upgrades like a wireless charging pad, a 9-inch touchscreen, heated front seats, leather upholstery, and a power-adjustable front passenger seat. The XSE is similar to the XLE, although its cabin has metallic interior trim. Exclusive simulated leather upholstery and red seat belts help the TRD to stand out.
Safety Features
Every model includes anti-lock brakes, stability and traction control, airbags throughout the cabin, and tire pressure monitoring. Toyota Safety Sense also comes standard on every Camry, regardless of trim level. This suite of active driver aids bundles forward-collision mitigation, road sign recognition, lane-keeping assist, automatic high beams, a rearview camera, and adaptive cruise control. The upper three trims also include blind-spot monitoring and full-speed adaptive cruise control.
