Continue reading to take a look at the 2023 Toyota Crown vs. the Tesla Model Y with DARCARS Toyota of Baltimore.

The Power

All 2023 Toyota Crown models will have hybrid powertrains. The two lower trims will have a 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine and three electric motors. The Hybrid Max powertrain will have a 2.4-liter turbo four-cylinder and one electric motor. This powertrain will develop 340 horsepower. The Tesla Model Y has only one powertrain. The two electric motors generate 384 horsepower. Choosing the Crown over the Model Y gives the driver the option for adaptive dampers, so they can choose between a sporty or comfortable ride.

Technology Features

The Toyota Crown will have a much more user-friendly cabin. It will feature two 12.3-inch screens. One will sit in front of the driver and the other in the center of the dash for the infotainment system. It has a row of climate buttons to make it easy to control the cabin temperature. The Tesla Y uses only touch screen controls for the infotainment system and climate, and it can be difficult to find what you need. The Tesla Y also does not have Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

Safety Features

Every 2023 Toyota Crown will come standard with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. This group of driving aids includes adaptive cruise control, lane-centering assist, a rear-seat reminder, forward collision warning, automatic braking, and a traffic sign reader. The Platinum adds to this with an automated parking system. The Tesla Model Y also comes with adaptive cruise control and blind-spot monitoring, but these are also available with the Toyota Crown. In a side-by-side comparison of the new 2023 Toyota Crown and the Tesla Model Y, the Crown comes out on top with its choice of powertrains and user-friendly controls for the infotainment system and climate control.
