2023 Toyota Tacoma
As one of the most popular midsize pickup trucks, the Toyota Tacoma outsells the automaker's Tundra and 4Runner. This tough truck is a formidable force, especially when you take it off-road. Over the years, the automaker has allowed customers to tailor the Tacoma to their liking, whether that involves choosing packages or adding one of many aftermarket products. The 2023 Tacoma has even more options, bolstering its appeal for just about anyone looking for a dependable truck.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The 2023 Toyota Tacoma is available in six trims: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The truck also comes with extended- and crew-cab sizes as well as a 5- or 6.1-foot bed. For the 2023 model year, Toyota added two new appearance packages to its SR5 trim level. The SX Package, which was previously only offered on the SR trim, is now available on the V-6 SR5 and adds black wheels, fenders, and trim. The Chrome Package, which is also offered on the SR5, adds 18-inch wheels and chrome exhaust tips, door handles, and tailgate logo.
Engine (Power)
When it comes to engine options, the 2023 Tacoma has two. The SR and SR5 come standard with a 2.7-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 159 horsepower and 180 pound-feet of torque. Optional on those trims, but standard on the others, is a 3.5-liter V-6 that cranks out 278 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. Both engines pair with either a six-speed automatic or manual transmission. All trims come standard with rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is available.
Performance
If you're planning to take the truck off-road, consider purchasing the TRD Off-Road trim. It includes a locking rear differential, crawl control, and several traction control modes so you can have more grip in low-traction conditions. Also, when properly equipped, the Tacoma has a maximum towing capacity of 6,800 pounds and a hauling capacity of 1,155 pounds.
Interior
Toyota knows buyers want a tough truck but a comfortable cabin. In V-6 models, the Tacoma has a 10-way power-adjustable driver's seat, ensuring you'll remain comfortable no matter how long your drive. You'll also gain excellent visibility thanks to the low hood profile and ample side windows. While the base trim includes cloth upholstery, moving up in trims adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and leather upholstery.
Unlike other pickup trucks, the 2023 Tacoma incorporates a touch screen display inside every cabin. The truck comes standard with a 7-inch display, but all other models include an 8-inch screen. Every trim also includes Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa connectivity as well as three USB ports, a Wi-Fi hot spot, and satellite radio. A premium stereo system, navigation, and wireless charging are available.
Safety Features
The 2023 Toyota Tacoma has some of the most advanced driver-assistance technology in its class. It includes forward-collision warning with automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and lane-departure warning. The Technology package adds blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alert and rear parking sensors, while the Advanced Technology package includes a 360-degree camera system.
